Qualifying as a member of the Growth 25 is sure to have a dramatic impact on your future, but it is a challenging goal that requires commitment and determination. Two Associates “on the move” toward becoming members of the Growth 25 who embody these characteristics are Ruby Director Thavry Butler (picture far left) and Gold Director Julie Thong (picture left). Let their story inspire you if you face setbacks and obstacles on your way to the life of your dreams:

After five years of war, starvation, slave labor, and deprivation in communist Cambodia, followed by two years in refugee camps in Thailand and the Philippines, Julie and Thavry arrived in the United States in 1981. Though they could not speak any English, they searched tirelessly and found their first jobs as nurse assistants at a convalescent home, earning less than minimum wage. Dreaming of a better future no matter the obstacles, they soon went to school, facing the difficulties of working and going to school at the same time, in addition to not speaking English. In 1986, Julie earned her Bachelor of Science degree in computer information systems, while Thavry pursued her nursing degree, which she received three years later.

Over the next seven years, both worked their way up the ladder of success. Julie became a project manager in a large publicly held corporation. Thavry diligently pursued her career and became an ob-gyn nurse practitioner. Both worked 50 to 60 hours a week and had families to take care of, but they believed in working hard and being rewarded.

Early September 2001, one of Thavry’s friends shared USANA with her. Thavry fell in love with the products and, six months later, shared USANA with Julie. A few weeks later, Julie enrolled as an Associate, telling Thavry, “Don’t bother me with the business; I just want the products at a discount.” A few months later, however, Julie received a check from USANA and was very excited. She began to research the USANA compensation plan and found that she could earn money for helping others to maintain their health. The checks kept growing until Julie was able to retire from her corporate job in 2003. And, in 2004, Thavry was also able to leave her job to concentrate on her USANA business. She quips, “The checks get bigger, fatter, and juicier every time we help people.”

Now, Julie and Thavry are able to do so many things that they couldn’t do before they were introduced to USANA, like spend more quality time with their families and strive for their personal goals. For instance, Julie earned her MBA in 2004 and authored her first book called “My Courageous Quest for Love and Freedom” in 2006. They believe anyone can become successful in USANA if they have a strong belief in themselves and the company and use teamwork, leadership, commitment, and passion to help change peoples’ lives.

Now is the time to set your goal to become a member of the Growth 25. See what being an Associate “on the move” can do for you.
